UGMONK
Back in July, I got to attend an Arts Conference that I cannot rave enough about: ECHO CONFERENCE 2012. The last workshop I attended was my absolute favorite, and it was where I was first introduced to the wonderful work of UGMONK. There are SO many T-Shirt companies out there, but UGMONK really stuck out to me in their unique "typeface based design" approach. Jeff Sheldon (founder of UGMONK) talked about how he started his company several years ago, and I don't want to botch up the story, so you can read it HERE. I was won over immediately, and bought 3 shirts right after the workshop! I believe that the MO of the company is captured in one of their T-Shirt Ideas, with the following phrase: "do what you LOVE what you do" - and this is precisely what I identify with even in my own artistic journey over the years. I really hope that I can be successful as well in operating with this mindset!
I went up to Jeff right after the workshop and offered to do a photoshoot for them. [Grab hold of the opportunity!] The photography in general on their website is amazing (if you're reading this, kudos to all the amazing photographers who contributed work to that site), and I felt intimidated but inspired at the same time, and wondered if he'd even end up using the images for anything. Either way I thought it would be great practice for me to develop my skills in "lifestyle" and "fashion" photography.
Fast forward to a few weeks later, and I got some of my good friends involved to model for me and they did a fantastic job - they are such naturals!!! We went around the Meat Packing District in NYC, and then finished the rest of the set down in Philly (and of course ended the evening with STEVE'S Philly Cheesesteaks - hands down, the best in Philly).
So excited to let y'all know that Jeff featured the photos on the UGMONK site/blog. You can view that site HERE!
There were so many photos that I loved that I wanted to share the rest of them w/ you here! Hope you enjoy them! Special thanks to: Katie Contini, Timothy Moore, Marissa Moore, Mang Sabrina, and my good friend Jason Min (Musician/Singer-Songwriter Extraordinaire) for helping me out and being such great models!!!
